The beginning of [Story House]

The beginning of [Story House]

It’s funny that I yearned for success before I was sick but pursued for happiness after becoming sick.
A lot of people asked me why I applied for a variety of contests during 2011. They wonder why I couldn’t stop desiring for success even after being severely sick.
The general definition of success is fortune and power, but I have already lost the attempt to achieve such things in my present condition. (And in fact I also realized that it’s beyond my ability.) The reason why I entered a dozen of contests is to realize my 2011 new-year aspiration. I made a wish in 2011 --- I want to give my kids pocket money earned by myself. That’s pure happiness to me.
The lucky 2011 was filled with endless notifications of my winning and attending awarding ceremonies afterwards. I felt pretty proud of myself. But sharing you a little secret, I also lost many other contests. It’s just that I erased these memories from my head, and I told myself that I didn’t deserve to win if I hadn’t suffered from losing.

I made another wish in 2012 --- to make Story House a new hope for the motor neurons.

From the bottom of my heart, I think that Story House is a dream factory for the ALS patients and their family. The reason why I chose to establish auctioning sites introducing the work by motor neurons and their family is that I think it’s the best way to provide actual help to them.

Most of the motor neurons are not only talented, but also have special dreams. For example, Yong Shin Lin raised an event called “Finding ALS patients, Loving Them by Heart” to show care for the motor neurons. I have constructed digital audio books before and I found that other patients had very different and colorful dreams.

Story House --- The dream factory is to spread the concept of “Not only do we gather for warmth, but we also fight together” by means of social network's advertising power.

1. The Purpose of Our Dream
I always had a dream that I want to make "Story House" a site auctioning the work of the ALS patients and their family. Many ALS patients are very talented. Some master in painting and photography, some are good at poetry and other literature writing, some record their life stories... others even seek to make their own publication. They need a platform to present their creativity works of life and to increase their family income.

2. The Importance of This Dream
A family member of an ALS patient once said sadly: "The ALS patients are like fish, lying on the bed with only movement of their mouths." Although the fish is trapped in a bowl, it can still sense the outside world and take sky as its limit, and it can also take a swim in the sea with memory and imagination. Many patients try so hard to live and they show vigorous life. Though sick in the body, they are not sick in their mind and soul.

*The reason behind Story House's naming is that every patient has their unique life story and their works of creativity have touching elements. They have the ability to tell wonderful stories.

Certificate
On the presentation day for the “Dream Comes True” Plan held by Taiwan Stock Exchange, I was awarded by chairman Xue Qi. I thought that the certificate was very much worth treasuring because that Story House is realized by the plan.

I deeply believe in constructing small business of charity by enterprising spirit. Not only can ALS patients find their way to express their emotions, but also ease ALS family's financial problems. It can also help ALS patients and their family to find joy and dignity in helping others.
